Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
- Strong Market Position: Lenskart, India’s top prescription eyewear brand, earns over 50% of revenue from essential eyewear. Its omni-channel model and global tie-ups, including Owndays, drive growth in Asia and profitability.
- Experienced Leadership Hires: The appointment of Abhishek Gupta (former CFO at OYO) brings strong financial leadership and is expected to enhance fiscal discipline.
- Strong International Growth: International operations accounted for 42% (₹2,273 crore) of total revenue in FY24. Key markets experienced strong growth: Japan (63%), Singapore (46.7%), Taiwan (55%), and Thailand (69.3%). The Owndays acquisition has played a key role in expanding the company's presence in Japan.
- Increased Manufacturing Capacity in India: A new $200 million plant in Southern India is under development, expected to be 10 times larger than the existing Rajasthan facility. This will significantly enhance production capacity and reduce delivery times.
Weaknesses
- Consistent Net Losses: Despite rising revenues, Lenskart posted a net loss of ₹8.91 crore in FY24. Historical losses include ₹107.8 crore in FY22 and ₹59.7 crore in FY23, primarily due to high depreciation and finance costs.
- Heavy Reliance on Product Sales: Approximately 95% of Lenskart’s revenue comes from product sales, highlighting a lack of diversification in income streams such as services or subscriptions.
