Introduction<\/h2>\n

India wants 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030. The share of Renewable energy in India\u2019s installed capacity mix is set to rise from about\u00a052% in FY26<\/strong>\u00a0to ~62% in FY29<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Juniper Green Energy Limited is one of the companies building that capacity.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s among the top 10 largest renewable independent power producers in India, and achieved a ~160% increase in Total Capacity, from FY24 to FY26.<\/p>\n

The company is now raising\u00a0\u20b91,800 crore<\/strong>\u00a0through a 100% Fresh Issue of equity shares. From the proceeds, \u20b9683 Cr will go towards repaying Juniper\u2019s own debt, while \u20b9729 Cr will go towards three subsidiaries, to clear their debt.<\/p>\n

Business Model<\/h2>\n

Juniper Green runs a develop-build-own-operate model.<\/p>\n

It manages the full project lifecycle itself, from the\u00a0bidding\u00a0<\/strong>for tenders,\u00a0land acquisition<\/strong>,\u00a0engineering-procurement-construction (EPC),\u00a0<\/strong>and once a project is commissioned, also managing its\u00a0operations\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0maintenance (O&M)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This enables it to keep construction margins that would otherwise go to external contractors.<\/p>\n

Juniper\u2019s revenue comes from selling electricity under\u00a0power purchase agreements (PPAs)<\/strong>, which typically run for 25 years, to central government entities (SECI, SJVN, NHPC, NTPC), state distribution companies (GUVNL, MSEDCL) and select private players.<\/p>\n

Currently, ~98% of Total Capacity<\/strong>\u00a0is backed by such long-term PPAs, while the rest is assigned to short-term contracts or merchant sales.<\/p>\n

Its portfolio spans four technologies: solar, wind, wind-solar hybrid (WSH) and firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) paired with battery energy storage (BESS).<\/p>\n

Around\u00a01,233 MW<\/strong>\u00a0of capacity is operational, around\u00a02,341 MW<\/strong>\u00a0is under construction with signed PPAs, and yet another\u00a02,350 MW<\/strong>\u00a0or so is under construction with no signed PPA yet.<\/p>\n

        The Financial Stuff<\/h2>\n

        • Revenue from operations\u00a0<\/strong>grew from \u20b9392 Cr in FY24 to \u20b9719 Cr in FY26, a growth of 83%. Operational capacity nearly doubled in this period, to 1,233 MW which is a key driver of this jump.<\/li>\n
        • Operating EBITDA\u00a0<\/strong>grew from \u20b9338 Cr in FY24 to \u20b9606 Cr in FY26, a growth of 79%. EBITDA Margin stayed steady at ~85% each year,owing mostly to near-zero variable costs due to the nature of Juniper\u2019s business, which allows them to control most aspects of their projects.<\/li>\n
        • Profit After Tax<\/strong>\u00a0was flat at \u20b940 Cr in both FY24 and FY26, despite EBITDA growing by a lot. PAT Margin actually fell from 10% to 6% in the same period, as finance costs more than doubled, eating into the EBITDA gains.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • Juniper\u2019s\u00a0EBITDA Margin\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a086%<\/strong>\u00a0is right in the middle of the peerset, ahead of ReNew and NTPC Green, but behind ACME Solar.<\/li>\n
          • Juniper\u2019s\u00a0PAT Margin\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a06%<\/strong>\u00a0is the lowest in the set. ACME Solar converts nearly a quarter of revenue to profit.<\/li>\n
          • Juniper\u2019s\u00a0net D\/E ratio\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a02.75x<\/strong>\u00a0is the second-lowest, better than ReNew and Adani Green, but well over NTPC Green\u2019s 1.51x.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Key Risks<\/h2>\n

            • Rising leverage.<\/strong>\u00a0The net D\/E climbed from 1.00x in FY24 to 2.75x in FY26. The business is capital intensive, and a large under-construction book means borrowings could keep rising before a lot of assets can start generating cash. But since some of the IPO proceeds go towards repayment, part of this would be eased.<\/li>\n
            • Supplier concentration.<\/strong>\u00a0Top three equipment suppliers accounted for 63% of total purchases in FY26, with Envision Energy alone at 34%. Supplier disruptions, especially could delay project commissioning and push back revenue recognition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
